River side@Cheatham Street

April 22, 2013

This was a spot in the road that was a low water crossing site because of water from the nearby river flooding onto it in the rain and has caused many problems with cars trying to get passed and has taken a while to dry up.

This is a low water crossing that doesn’t need much rain to flood. It is a very popular place to go and walk your dog, With not much rain needed to trigger a flood, someone can easily find themselves in a hazardous situation by placing themselves in that low level water crossing.

Kyle low water crossing

April 18, 2013

This low water crossing is surrounded by fields. In heavy rain events it could easily become flooded. I know it to be a low water crossing because it is the lowest area for miles around.  There is also evidence that water has run across at various. This can be inferred from water discolorations on the […]

Jacob’s Well Road at Cypress Creek

April 17, 2013

The road is very narrow and is like a frontage road on the river. High end homes line the bank. This is an area that can flood very quickly due to the steep banks and small width of the river

0

Hilliard Rd. San Marcos Tx

March 27, 2013

This is a low water crossing with water level gauges and a small culvert. If heavy rain occurs, the road would become flooded by a small creek. There are no warning signs or lights and in the event of a flood, barricades are placed in the road to prevent vehicles from passing. This could be dangerous because it is the only road used to […]

Valley View Road where Blanco stream crosses

April 11, 2011

Typically a dry river bed, this area floods during storm season being that its in a valley.  Avoid this road during any intense rain events because water will seek the lowest paths.  There is a ruler beside the middle of the road that goes up to 5 feet, so the water events can get pretty […]

This is a low river crossing that is almost always covered by water.  It has algea build up and is pretty slippery for tires with worn treads, this is a good place for you and your car to end up in the river…. if that’s your purpose.

April 5, 2011

Not sure if this is a low water crossing, flash flood alley or both; but the terrain to the right of 2222, as it passes Bull Creek, slopes down towards the road and creek.  Sooo… in the case of a rain event and if the ground is already saturated, the nearby Bull Creek swells up and flows […]

0

Hidden Valley Road crossing the Blanco

April 5, 2011

This road is just outside of Wimberley and, as you can see, crosses the Blanco River.  I would assume it has water crossing gates and is signed, but looks like a potential water highway with one good rainfall event.

1

River Road @ Country Road 1492

April 5, 2011

This intersection is in Wimberley where Country Road 1492 intersects River Road.  I’ve never been here, but I would image a decent sized rain event could cause the Blanco River to sweep over this road, creating an excellent example of a low river crossing.

This is a low water crossing located behind the Zone apartment complex. There is a gate and a stop sign located just before the low water crossing. When heavy rain occurs, it is incredibly dangerous, and the gates may then be locked around the road.
